The MOPRECO Labor Management Council (LMC) officers recently engaged in a pivotal two-day Plant Level
Orientation
Seminar (PLOS) on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, held on June 20-21. Organized by the
Regional
Conciliation & Mediation Board (RCMB-CAR), the seminar was a significant step forward in enhancing the
capacity of
MOPRECO's LMC officers to manage and resolve labor-management issues more effectively. The event featured
insightful
presentations from staff members of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), who shared their extensive
experience and
successful strategies in handling their own LMC operations.
This training was meticulously designed to provide the MOPRECO LMC officers with practical skills and
comprehensive
knowledge of ADR mechanisms. The focus was on fostering a collaborative and non-adversarial approach to
resolving
conflicts within the organization, which is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in maintaining a
harmonious and
productive work environment. ADR, with its emphasis on mediation, negotiation, and arbitration, offers a
structured yet
flexible framework for addressing disputes before they escalate into more significant issues.
Through the seminar, the MOPRECO officers gained valuable insights into effective conflict resolution
strategies,
drawing on BENECO's established practices as a model for success. The training emphasized the importance of
communication, legal and ethical considerations, and the practical application of ADR processes. By
equipping its LMC
officers with these skills, MOPRECO is taking proactive steps to ensure that its labor-management relations
are not only
effective but also contribute to the overall well-being of the organization.
This initiative reflects MOPRECO's strong commitment to continuous improvement in labor-management
relations,
recognizing that a well-managed LMC is instrumental in preventing disputes and fostering a culture of
cooperation and
mutual respect. The seminar is expected to have a lasting impact, enabling MOPRECO to enhance the efficiency
and
effectiveness of its LMC, ultimately leading to a more cohesive and productive organizational environment.
This
development underscores the cooperative’s dedication to creating a workplace where issues are addressed
constructively,
and where both management and employees can work together towards common goals.
